Biography
Wesley Sneijder is a player current playing for Inter Milan and the Netherlands. Trained at the School of Ajax Amsterdam, he is an attacking midfielder that is capable of playing with both feet. Wesley Sneijder will spend most of his young career in his former club where he began by making his debut in the 2002/2003 season.
For three seasons, Wesley Sneijder will form with his best friend Rafael Van Der Vaart, a prolific midfield duo that will allow Ajax to regain the title in 2004. He will play a leading role in helping Ajax reclaim the title. It will all start after the winter break on 2 February 2003 where Ajax will find themselves short of first team player. This will allow Wesley Sneijder to make his debut in the league against Willem II. Since then he will be a key player in the midfield for Ajax.
In 2007 he will sign a contract with Real Madrid where he will make his start in the derby against A Atlético Madrid. He will indeed score the winning goal in this match. On his second match with Real Madrid he will score two goals to help his team overcome Villareal. He will then go on and have a wonderful season that will see him score 9 goals in total. Real Madrid will be champion in that year.
On 27 August 2009, Wesley Sneijder was transferred to Inter Milan for around €15 million. He will make a great performance in his debut and help his team beat Milan AC 4-0. His first goal in the Calcio will come around 5 weeks later when he will score in a match against Udinese. He will also perform well in the Champions League where he will score his first goal against Dynamo Kiev. He will continue his great performance and will help his team win the 2010 Champions League Final against Bayern Munich by 2–0. In the process Inter Milan will beat FC Barcelona, the favorite and Wesley Sneijder will score the equalizing goal after Barca had taken the lead.
On the international scene Sneijder made his debut with the Netherlands under-21 side against the Czech Republic on 28 March 2003. He will get his first cap with the senior team in a match against Portugal on 30 April 2003. He will also participate in the Euro 2004 and will make only 2 substiitute appearances.
In the 2006 World Cup, Wesley Sneijder will start all the four games for the Dutch side until they were eliminated by Portugal. He will also participate in the Euro 2008 and will score one of the most beautiful of the tournament in the match against Italy. However the Dutch team will be eliminated by the Russians in the quarterfinals.
Wesley Sneijder will also have a good 2010 World Cup with the Netherlands team. He will score the only goal in the win against Japan and will finish man of the match in his first two matches in the tournament. He will then go on and score some important goals for his team against Slovakia, Brazil and Uruguay. The Netherlands will go all the way to the final which they will lose against Spain.
